Why Critical Thinking Essays Are Important
Critical thinking is the force and power with which individuals learn to use their minds and evaluate the situation or circumstances to judge and act in the best possible manner. Critical thinking is an essential trait in humans which enables them to behave rationally and act logically. A major aim of education is to enhance critical thinking skills in students, which is the reason why critical thinking essays are an important aspect of education.
A critical thinking essay aims to seek the truth, rationale or appropriate facts relating to a topic, occurrence theme or situation. As such critical thinking essays can be based on a variety of topics or subjects. The primary reason for writing a critical thinking essay is to develop the ability of the writer to analyze and evaluate the facts available in order to reach an outcome or understanding about a given topic, occurrence or situation. By writing a critical thinking essay, a student engages in the process of finding the truth. Critical thinking essays can be of three broad types:
- Logical
Logical critical thinking essays employ logic and reason to find the truth. Through logical inference, the critical thinker employs the available references, facts and data and strives to achieve the best possible outcome of any given situation or occurrence.
- Persuasive
Persuasive critical thinking essay employ the art of persuasion to convince the reader to think critically and believe the stance out forth by the writer. The art of persuasion does not mean to force personal viewpoints on the reader; rather persuasion is based on true facts, data and examples through which the reader is impressed and begins to believe the writer’s argument.
- Creative
Creative critical thing essays employ innovative and creative means to enable the reader to think critically and judge rightfully.
